ITINERARY

DAY 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
(130km - 3 - 4 hours)

  • To get your safari started, we will collect you from your hotel, residence, or the airport in Arusha early in the morning.
  • We head to the west to begin your safari at Lake Manyara. This is one of the many lakes of the Great African Rift Valley, covering 325 square kilometers during the rainy season.
  • On the way, you have chance to see some of the Tanzanian landscape as towns and villages pass you by.
  • When you make it to the lake, you’ll be given a picnic lunch and then taken on your first game drive.
  • On the lake itself you will have plenty of birdwatching opportunities, with over four hundred species know to nest and feed in the area.
  • Away from the shores you’re likely to be able to spot: Wildebeest, Waterbucks, Zebras, Impalas, Giraffes and many more animals.
  • When at Lake Manyara you have the chance to take a canoe out onto the waters, giving you a novel way to watch the animals and get some stunning photographs. This is optional at an extra cost of $60 per person.
  • Once you’ve sated your wildlife dreams for the day you will head to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

  • On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.
  • Located below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, Arusha has a temperate climate.
  • Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

  • Your Tanzanian safari guide will meet you at your hotel, residence, or the airport ready to take you deep into the wilds and begin your adventure across the savanna.
  • The journey to Lake Manyara will take you through Tanzanian countryside, offering you a brief glimpse at the way of life in this stunning country.
  • As soon as you arrive at the park, named after the 330 square kilometer lake at its edge, you will be met with rugged terrain and the chance to see the plethora of animals that live within.
  • The lake is famed for the bird species that reside here, including tens of thousands of flamingos that will appear to turn the lake pink as they dance and feed in the waters.
  • Terrestrial animals abound here, too, with Hippos, Monkeys, Zebras, Elephants roaming the plains to hunt and graze, along with plenty more creatures to introduce you to the wonders of Tanzanian safari.
  • Your lunch will come picnic style as you roam through the park with your guide and vehicle.
  • Once the evening begins to set in, you will make your way to your chosen camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

  • The beginning of your Tanzanian safari adventure is in Arusha, where we will come and collect you in your safari vehicle from your hotel, residence, or the airport.
  • Once on board, you will head west with your expert African safari guide and make your way through the northern countryside to Lake Manyara.
  • Known for its nearly four hundred bird species, Lake Manyara is an ornithologist’s dream, and a great way to start any safari experience.
  • You’ll arrive in the late morning and roll straight into your first game drive.
  • Along with the million or so flamingos you’re likely to encounter, other birds that you can discover here includeGreat white pelicans, Yellow-billed storks, Marabou storks, Grey herons
  • Lunch will be served picnic-style inside the park so that you can have as much time as possible surrounded by nature.
  • Early evening, you will head to your chosen camp or lodge for dinner and time to rest before your adventure continue.
